Are Facebook and Instagram down? Reports say yes

(Gray News) – Tens of thousands of people worldwide reported outage issues with Facebook Friday morning.

The outage started to spike around 9:30 a.m. ET and continued to grow around 10 a.m. ET, according to reports on Down Detector.

People left comments on Down Detector saying the social media platform was out in various areas of the United States, Canada, the Philippines and even Ireland.

“looks like it may be a global outage.. haven’t seen anyone in the European countries reporting yet though,” one commenter wrote.

The issues appeared to have spread beyond Facebook, as users on Instagram reported having issues as well.

“Our engineering teams are aware and are actively looking to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” officials posted on the Check Status and Outages of Meta Business Products website.

Meta owns both social media platforms.
