Former Wichita State tennis coach sentenced for child sex crimes

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) — A former Wichita State University tennis coach was sentenced to 36 months probation with an underlying or suspended 68-month prison sentence.
Max Wheeler pleaded guilty in April to charges of indecent liberties and solicitation of a child. Police arrested Wheeler almost two years ago after investigating a report from a teenager.

Wichita State athletics said Wheeler worked with the tennis program in a temporary role and was not associated with the university at the time of his arrest. He must register as a sex offender.
