Katie Maher joined the KCTV5 sports team in July of 2025.
She was born and raised on the Jersey Shore and graduated from the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism in 2022. After graduation, Katie spent three years at KCTV5's sister station, WIBW, right down the road in Topeka. Turns out, the Midwest stole this East Coaster's heart!
While in Topeka, she covered both of the Chiefs' back-to-back Super Bowl wins in Arizona and Las Vegas, the Royals' ALDS appearance, and hit the road to New York City for K-State's Elite Eight run, as well as the Jayhawks' first bowl victory in over a decade in Phoenix.
Katie believes Kansas City is one of the best sports markets in the country, and she's so excited to tell stories in the city she's grown to love.
When she's not at work, you can find her hanging out with her dog, Lilo, exploring local restaurants/bars, playing the guitar and piano, cooking, or looking for her next TV show to binge-watch.
