Winter weather shifts state football kickoff times
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - With winter weather anticipated to impact most of the state, the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) announced changes to kickoff times for Saturday state championship football games.
KSHSAA said games in five of the state’s nine football classes will kick off one hour earlier than initially scheduled.
“The sites for 3A (Hutchinson), 2A (Salina), 1A (Hays) and 6-Player (Dodge City) will kick off at Noon. Newton hosting two games for 8-Player will kick off at 10:30 am (DI) with the second game starting at 2:00 pm (DII),” KSHSAA specified in a Friday morning news release.
KSHSAA said 1 p.m. kickoff times for the state’s three largest classes remain. Those sites include Class 6A in Emporia, 5A in Pittsburg and 4A in Topeka.
“Indications Indications show the snow will get heavier as the day progresses. Moving up the game times may allow teams, spectators and game personnel to get on the road after the game a little sooner,” KSHSAA said.
