WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Bishop Carroll girls soccer became the first Wichita-area team to win a 6A or 5A title with Saturday’s 2-1 win over St. James at Stryker Sports Complex.

It’s the Golden Eagles’ first 5A title in program history.

Leah Henke opened the scoring 15 minutes in with a header on a free kick from Andrea Vielmas. St. James answered back with a corner kick goal 10 minutes later, sending the game into a 1-1 tie at the break.

Vielmas eventually scored the game-winning goal as her corner with 20 minutes remaining was deflected in by a Thunder defender.

Bishop Carroll finishes the year 21-0 with a goal differential of 122-8.
