Wichita mother charged with murder in death of 4-year-old son

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A Wichita mother accused of killing her 4-year-old son made her first appearance Wednesday in Sedgwick County District Court at which she heard the charges against her. A judge charged 27-year-old Tyne Blunt with first-degree murder and two counts of child abuse.

Earlier this month, Blunt’s 4-year-old son, Tiuri Blunt-Porrata, was found unresponsive in an apartment. He later died at a local hospital.

Blunt’s next court appearance is set for Dec. 29. She remains in the Sedgwick County Jail, held on a $750,000 bond.

Thirty-four-year-old Daniel Martin is also charged with first-degree murder and child abuse in the case.
