National Weather Service confirms two tornadoes in Dickinson County

EF0 and EF1 tornadoes touched down Tuesday evening near Abilene and Woodbine

ABILENE, Kan. (KWCH) — The National Weather Service confirmed two tornadoes touched down in Dickinson County on Wednesday evening.

The first tornado was rated EF0 with estimated peak winds of 75 mph. It touched down at 7:12 p.m. about 2 miles east-northeast of Abilene and traveled 2.67 miles before lifting at 7:16 p.m. about 1 mile west-northwest of Enterprise. The tornado had a maximum path width of 50 yards.

The brief tornado damaged trees on its short path, according to the weather service. Path length was estimated as areas to the south are inaccessible.

The second tornado was rated EF1 with estimated peak winds of 90 mph. It touched down at 8:18 p.m. about 4 miles south-southwest of Woodbine and lifted at 8:20 p.m. in the same area after traveling 0.25 miles.

Pictures and videos confirmed the tornado south of Woodbine. A garage door was blown in on one residence with other damage to an outbuilding and surrounding trees, the weather service said.

No fatalities or injuries were reported from either tornado.
