In just one second, life changed forever for a Wichita teenager. Jalen Robinson was struck by a vehicle, leaving him paralyzed.

A year later, police still have not been able to find the person responsible. They're asking for your help to catch that hit-and-run driver.

Since he was a young boy, Robinson was involved in sports and had dreams of becoming a professional athlete.

"That's all I really wanted to do, just make it, be on TV," Jalen told us. "Not like this though..."

But, on March 20, 2016, everything changed. Robinson and a friend were walking by Tracy and Third Streets near Towne West Mall, when an SUV struck him and sped away.

"You know what, sometimes I get like little bitty movements like that in my legs," Jalen said. "And I think it's all starting to come back, just real slowly, it's going to take time you know."

Despite the tragedy, the 19-year-old has faith.

"I don't like being like this," Jalen laughed. "Even though I make fun of myself, I don't like this."

Robinson's father says finding the proper care for his son has been difficult.

"I'm just so thankful that he's here with us and we have him," his dad, Ray Robinson said.

A sentiment, and positive attitude shared by Jalen.

"Being alive, being with my family, even though I have no friends anymore, but being around my family that's all I care about," he said.

"I'm just glad to be alive."

Police don't have a good description of the SUV. Only that it was light-colored and had tinted windows. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or CrimeStoppers.
