Man in custody after leading police on high-speed chase, foot pursuit
While enforcing traffic safety on Rock Road, Wichita police arrested a 23-year-old man who allegedly led them on a chase before causing a crash.
Police say around 9 a.m. Thursday, an officer was at 1800 north Rock Road when he saw a 2002 tan Mercedes-Benz speeding.
When the officer tried to pull over the car, it did a U-turn and fled southbound.
The officer was stuck in traffic approximately 500 yards behind the vehicle when it struck a black Chevy Suburban and a silver Volvo at Central and Rock Road.
The suspect then fled on foot but officers were able to arrest him after a brief foot pursuit.
Police booked Carlos William into jail on charges of resist arrest, flee and elude police, hit and run, possession of marijuana with the intent
to sell and other traffic charges.
