WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The third-rated high school tight end in the country and one of the nation’s most sought-after recruits in the Class of 2026 announced on Thursday that he’s leaving the Sunflower State for the next step in his career.
Great Bend’s Ian Premer confirmed on X that he’s committed to Notre Dame. The 6′6, 230-pound athlete picked the Fighting Irish over KU, K-State and Iowa State.

Last fall, Premer had a huge season for Great Bend, leading the Panthers to an undefeated regular season and opening round of the playoffs. Great Bend fell to conference foe Hays in the second round, the team that went on to represent the west side of the Class 5A bracket in the state title game.
In November, Premer ascended to No. 1 in the class of 2026 tight end rankings. He joined Goodland’s Linkon Cure as the top ranked tight ends in their respective classes (Cure in 2025) and there was wide speculation that Premer would join Cure at K-State.
In the video above, you can revisit coverage from Premer’s recruitment this spring when he narrowed his college list to five schools.
